Lansing Real Estate Classes – Get Your Michigan Real Estate License

You have a lot of options when it comes to Michigan real estate classes. In fact, the Michigan Department of Regulatory Affairs, (LARA), has twenty-two pages of approved vendors and courses. If you’re anything like I was when researching how to become a real estate agent in Michigan, then you might feel lost about finding a Lansing real estate class.

I had a few questions I wondered:

  • Is this course approved by LARA and will it allow me to take the exam?
  • Will this course actually help me pass the exam or is there a better course?

This article is intended to clarify some of those questions so you can find the Lansing real estate class that is BEST for you and your style of learning, while being approved by LARA to meet the pre-licensure requirements laid out by the state of Michigan.

Lansing Real Estate Classes Requirements

Before you can take your real estate exam, you are required to complete, at a minimum, 40 hours of a pre-licensure course that is approved by LARA.

In this course, you will learn topics property ownership, land use control and regulations, valuation and market analysis, financing, laws of agency, mandated disclosures, contracts, practice of real estate, real estate calculations, duties and powers of the Department and Board, statutory requirements governing licensee activities, transferring property, specialty areas, and various State topics.

Don’t worry about having a law degree or needing to be able to do complex financial accounting. The course or test doesn’t require any of those skills.

If you’re compelled, you can search all of LARA’s approved courses on their website.

However, we have partnered withAceable Agent to provide on-demand real estate pre-licensure class for those who are looking to obtain their Michigan real estate license. This 40 hour pre-licensing course is designed to teach you all of the basic fundamentals necessary to pass the Michigan real estate exam for salespersons.

With that said, here are the top two Lansing real estate schools we recommend.

Aceable Agent – Online

The biggest advantage to Aceable Agent is that it’s online. This allows for greater flexibility and taking the course on your schedule.

This self-paced course allows students to move at the speed they are comfortable with. Unlike traditional, in-class courses, you can learn without getting left behind. Plus, with the flexibility, you can study in the evenings and get your license without quitting your job.

You might be thinking, well what if I need further help or guidance? That’s okay, too, because Real Estate Express offers different packages. If you need more help, you can select one of their more comprehensive real estate courses which includes live support help and an instructor.

Since this course is delivered online, it’s often cheaper than a traditional in-class course. And with our partnership, you can get an even better rate on the courses.

Holloway’s Real Estate Institute – Offline

Review: Holloways Real Estate Institute And Alternatives (In 2023)

If you’re searching for Lansing real estate classes, you’re likely to come across Holloway’s Real Estate Institute, or sometimes referred to as Holloways Institute.

From Michigan’s pre-licensure course, to continuing education for real estate agents, this real estate education company offers several Michigan real estate classes in a variety of formats.

The company is often known for its 40-hour pre-licensure course for prospective agents who wish to become a licensed real estate agent in Michigan.

We made this article mostly for prospective agents who are looking for real estate classes and maybe looking into Holloway’s Real Estate Institute or are wondering other alternatives to this real estate education company.

In writing this article, attempts were made to reach out to the company to validate information and more context, but we never received a response. All information contained in this article has been pulled from their website or word-of-mouth from talking to other real estate agents who may know a little bit about Holloways Institute.

About Holloway’s Institute

Holloways Real Estate Institute is one of the few real estate education companies located in Lansing. While there are other education companies that will travel to Lansing, Holloways is the only one with headquarters in Lansing.

The company, according to their website, has been in business for over 50 years. That’s an impressive amount of time to be teaching real estate.

Agents from all over Michigan can enroll with Holloway’s Institute. The company regularly has in-person classes in the Lansing and Grand Rapids area. They also offer an online option. Giving anybody an opportunity to obtain their Michigan real estate license..

What Classes Does Holloways Real Estate Institute Offer?

You can find a variety of classes — in topics, format and location — on their website. But, we’re going to focus on their Michigan pre-licensure course.

Holloways Real Estate Institute Website

Since checking their website in 2022, it seems that Holloways Institute offers their pre-licensure course in three different formats.

  • Face-To-Face Learning
  • Instructor Led Live Zoom Class
  • Online Course

Let’s examine each of these to get an idea of the costs and what option might be best for you.

Want to get started learning online? Skip Holloway’s and check out Aceable Agent.

In-Person Hollway’s Institute

Holloway’s Real Estate Institute has a variety of opportunities for completing your pre-licensure course in-person and face-to-face.

They have the following dates available in Lansing, according to their website:

  • February 21st – 25th
  • April 11th to 15th
  • June 13th to 17th
  • August 8th to 12th
  • October 10th to 4th
  • December 5th to 9th

Each of these sessions consist of 8.5-hours of classroom learning for five days and run Monday through Friday. The classes generally start at 9:00am and end at 5:30pm.

The in-person option is great for those who need more hands-on learning, but it’s not ideal for people who work full-time and can’t attend an 8 hour class every day for a week.

An in-person real estate class at Holloway’s Institute will cost you $295.00, which includes a manual, other necessary handouts and access to online course audio review.

Instructor Led Zoom Classes

As of publication, Holloways was only offering two live zoom pre-licensure real estate courses. According to their website, they have the following dates available.

  • January 24th to 28th
  • March 21st to 25th

The company runs their zoom classes similar to how they run their in-person classes. They are Monday through Friday from 9:00am to 5:30pm.

The cost is also the same at $295.00 and includes the same features of in-person classes.

This a great option for prospective real estate agents that want live instruction and want to do it from the comfort of their home.

However, the biggest downfall is that it’s during the day Monday through Friday, which can make it difficult for anybody with a full-time job or parents who need to pick up their kids from school.

Online Course

If you’re looking for something more flexible, you could enroll in the online class through Holloways real estate institute. Their online format is delivered through their partnership with Hondros Learning.

This option provides the most flexibility, but the content isn’t actually delivered by Holloways or instructors at the company. Instead, Hondros Learning is providing the content.

However, online classes are a great option for any one who needs a custom pace and wants to take their time. With an online option, you can still work or pick your kids up from school and complete your real estate class requirements.

You can pick a pace that works for you. An in-person class that is eight hours long contains a lot of content and course material.

Probably more course material than our brains can store into memory. At the end of the day, we have to be able to retain the information we learn so that we can pass the Michigan real estate exam.

You can register for the online course at any time through Holloway’s Institute. The cost is $295.00, but you can upgrade to $339.00 if you want to add the exam prep feature.

Alternatives To Holloways Real Estate Institute
